Black Hair Scissors
Caring for black-finish scissors
Everyday handling for the cutting edges, teeth and black finish of your scissors.
Clean, dry and protect
Follow the care instructions supplied for your exact pair. Remove hair and residue with a soft cloth, dry the scissors thoroughly and protect the blades in a case. Keep cutting edges from touching other metal tools.
Treat the finish as its own surface
Matte or polished black describes appearance. It does not identify a coating’s tolerance of solvents, soaking or abrasive cleaning. Use the maker’s specific cleaning and disinfection instructions for the model.
Look after the pivot and teeth
Follow the maker’s tension and oiling directions. Clear hair from thinning teeth carefully and avoid forcing a tool that catches, folds or pushes hair. A thinner and a cutter can need different handling.
Choose the right kind of tool
Use cutting scissors to form the cut and a thinner for its specified blending job. Tooth count alone does not tell you how much hair a pass will remove.
